Why is dragon ball so good

Adult Written by Andrew L. January 3, Parent Written by Shayan K. DBZ is meant for mature audiences who can handle violence and cursing etc, don't be fooled by those age recommendations on the boxes they are there to show the choking hazard of the toys but what I'm trying to say here is that you need to be atleast to watch the show and collect the figures for display reasons etc.

The show itself leaves great messages and teaches us good mottos. However a younger child that is unsure of handling the Anime should be watching other shows suitable for their age. Overall great show loved by millions of fans out there! Adult Written by Holly R. November 10, The father of fighting anime This is the series that popularized the fighting anime genre. Since it's popularity, it has spawned a few merchandise like action figures, shirts and video games but I wouldn't say it's consumerism.

Technically I'm surprised that on this site most anime are tagged at being a cash grab for consumerism and merchandising but very few no Disney movies get this label and Disney merch is way easier to find than DBZ merch has ever been.

Also the fans are the reason merch is created for series like this. Usually shows are made and the merch comes later because of demanding fans, whereas Disney has toys for UPCOMING films out on the shelves months before the movie debuts because they assume since they are Disney what ever movie is gonna have people buy the toys because it promotes both.

The reason I rate this age is for both. Little kids might imitate the violence and language doesn't matter. The language in the uncut versus is optional and depends on what your view on heavy profanity is. Adult Written by danny March 5, Dragon ball z is not for little kids i think Dragon ball z is a amazing show but its not for little kids because it has lots of sexual innuondoe theres a character seen smoking a cigarette and its very vilonte with lots of blood and characters die lots with that being said i dont reccomend dragon ball z for anyone under the age of Adult Written by Joes31 June 7, It mostly Depends what network you're watching it on.

Good show, but violent Dragon Ball Z is generally positive. Good always beats evil in the end, and there's the message that anyone can surpass an elite if they put their mind to it. With that said, the show is violent. The Dragon Balls make it so that no one really dies, but especially early on, people can lose limbs usually temporary or get holes blown in them.

Frieza in particular goes almost into torture to prove he is pure evil. There are censored releases, but the voice acting in many of these is so bad that, if your child is older than 8 or 9, it isn't worth it. If your child can handle violence, it is a very good show. If they can't, you should probably find a censored dub or simply not watch it. Written by Anonymous April 10, Adult Written by pokefan April 4, Old enough to understand Yes it is quite violent and if that's the thing you shelid your kid from then don't watch this.

The story has a greater meaning and you can tell if you just sit down and watch it, it is very deep and emotional. If you have a child that can not comprehend what is going on, then the show won't be good just violence and curse words. Hoping that they'll have the same amazing experience, I had when watching this show!

The very best of Dragon Ball, every character has their time to shine unlike dragon ball z where it's all goku and his family, the character developments are great and the story is the best, it's a fun show about going on adventures and learning martial arts, with great animation on tip of it, this is True Dragon Ball, this is where the creator was at his prime and liked to work on it, this show is a gem, perfect from beggining to end.

This anime is so stupid and boring. What a time waste! Now I am a big fan of the Dragon Ball series. This is a modern adaptation of Journey to the West.

Now this is a classic in anime history such as Astro Boy or Robotech. I love this series, it has fun stories and characters. It's what got me into Dragon Ball. Overall this is an awesome series and it should be remastered like Dragon Ball Z Kai. Dragon Ball is a phenomenal show! It's one of the most influential anime's of all time and tells a timeless story that will be remembered for generations to come. I love everything about this awesome series and hope to one day share it with my kids, in order to keep the Dragon Ball Legacy alive.

Dragon Ball tells the story of Goku, A young boy born with a Monkey tail who was found stranded in the woods by an old farmer named Gohan. He was raised as a kind, and a gentle loving boy who enjoys food and martial arts. One day Goku meets Bulma, bossy blue haired dame with a genius intellect who shares the secret of the seven Magic Dragon Balls with Goku, objects that when collected summoned the Eternal Dragon who has the ability to grant the discovery a single wish.

Goku accompanies Bulma on her quest and so begins the adventure of lifetime. Dragon Ball is one of the most unique shows none to man. It's hilarious, Wildly entertaining, filled with mystifying adventure and Exciting, pulse pounding fight scenes and a Heart bigger than the mystical Dragon Shenron himself. It has everything that anyone could ever want in a show, maybe even more. All Five Seasons of the show contain something that make the show one of a kind and a must watch for anyone who hasn't experienced it already.

Season one: In the first arc the audience is first introduced to the Dragon Balls as well as the major characters that will accompany Goku on his journey. Master Roshi, Bulma, and Yamcha are all Stellar in their roles.

There's also the introduction of Krillian who accompanies Goku during his training on Roshi's Island. It all leads to the two warriors participation in the World Wide Martial Arts tournament which is truly a sight to behold. You'll fall in love with Goku by the end of the season no question about it.

Season 2: This Seasons is very build up heavy but is already Great storytelling. We meet the Red Ribbon Army which is very adversary to this season as well as many story arcs down the line.

Season 3: Another Fantastic Season. The Climb to the top of Korrin Tower is extremely Cathortic. The rematch between Goku and Mercenary Tao is amazing! Plus Goku reuniting with his Grandpa Gohan is touching as well. Not to mention that there's another Martial Arts tournament at the end of this season. Season 4: So much Awesomeness! It all rules and is filled with some of the most mature writing in Dragon Ball. Which is extremely daring given how goody and comedic it usually is. The writers really went all out with this one.

Season 5: The best season I think. Goku finally grows up and we get a taste of the magnificent powerhouse of a warrior that he will become.

Goku fights Piccolo in the world Martial Arts tournament attacking with the iconic Meteor combination, ending in a Kamehameha wave that remains one of the most triumphant and inspirational in the series to this very day. I managed to finish my Dragon Ball saga, watching all the episodes from the series just a few days ago, seeing them in varying frequency over the last several months. I think I missed the Dragon Ball generation for a couple of years, and I spent my childhood times watching other, more recent anime series.

Notwithstanding, Dragon Ball is a canonical memory for several of my friends, and after years over years of hearing about Goku and Vegeta and company from them, I decided to fill in that gap of collective memory, and started watching Dragon Ball for the first time in my twenties. Ridden off warm childhood nostalgia towards Dragon Ball, I found the plot of the series to be thin to the limit of reasonability.

Everything in between them is mined with plot holes, brusque changes of pace in the story and pure indifference from the creative team to keep such errors under a minimum of control. So, what's the secret behind the success of an anime series so blatantly careless about the consistency of its story? I'd say that, even though the plot of Dragon Ball is so limited, the story is aware of those limits, and can even be satirical about its own weaknesses. It's a humble position that is lacking on most of today's top animes, and the great secret behind Dragon Ball's irresistible charm.

Just try to name another anime's main villain who is so bad and so amusingly aware of its own maleficence as Piccolo. And even though we can name all the plot between the fights in Dragon Ball as "fillers", something quickly sketched just to rush the viewers into the next epic battle, I can safely assure you that those same battles are at least the majority of them something noteworthy. The come out of each battle and the way they develop follow almost always the rules of predictability, but no one can assert that the animation crew isn't able to create some great action scenes.

The way the characters are designed and move around the screen are brimming with adrenaline, and one cannot help but feel fully engaged on the fights. Another stand out from the series is the character of Goku: his mix of naivety and unbreakable resilience may seem simple on paper, but sure is a winning formula. And as the monkey boy flies over the cities and towns on his magical Nimbus, filling the hearts of its inhabitants with hope in times of despair, you can be sure you'll also feel inspired to always put all of you in everything you do.

SalahuddinAhammad 7 July I really watched it in I most liked the innocence of Goku, his resemblance and the other character was quite good too. This show is amazing. After this i watched Dragon Ball Z. That has more action but not quite like the Dragon Ball original show. Of all the Dragon Ball series and movies i liked it best. Dragon Ball is the beginning of the long running series that has become insanely popular in America.

In the beginning it's a campy, funny adventure with Goku, a happy boy that's has amazing power for not only a child his age, but for most normal people. Of course no one's normal in this show.

He first meets Bulma, a pretty blue haired teenager. Bulma explains to Goku And us about the legendary Dragon Balls which have the power to grant you one wish. Any wish you desire. The story takes off from there. As the story progresses though, the story losses it's campy feel and turns into a rather dark telling of Goku's travels.

Towards the end he's friends actually die which is sort of strange because when I first started watching it I thought it was kids show. It was for awhile. But the show obviously is preparing you for the next series Dragon Ball Z, a much darker telling of Goku's travels.

But Dragon Ball is great show and has a hero that pretty simple. Goku is pure of heart and will always be, no matter what. The original dragon ball is one of the best animated cartoons if not the best, its animation was stunning for its time and the story was actually well written unlike recently in the franchise, the original dragon ball also has better characters then even dbz and will remain a legend in show history.

Listen Up Badmouthers! Okay, I just read every review and I'm outraged! First off, kids imate superman so why don't we take that off air? The thing I like most about the cartoon would have to be the different races such as the Namekian, and Saiyans and even the Androids are pretty cool. Also the fighting style of Goku and Gohan is the coolest ever, as the way they move is so swift and even though they haven't spent much time with each other as Goku has been sick or on another planet or even dead, their fighting style is similar to each others.

The attitude of the villains wanting to take over the universe is an ordinary plot but also with all the fake planets and galaxies included gives it an edge above Gundam Wing and the other space cartoons.

In conclusion I'd have to say that the Dragon Ball series was the best ever made. Dragon ball is a great japanese cartoon for children 7 and up, however there are several english dubs due to licensing and lack of popularity compared to its sequel dragon ball z.

If you are a child, or if a parent looking for this show, i highly reccommend you watch the edited version. Kids will cheer for Goku! It isn't just filled with sex jokes or Dragon Ball hunts. Only idiots will think of that without watching the rest of the series. It has comedy, drama and action all rolled into one. And it pulls it off effectively. At first there weren't that many villains. They had Emperor Pilaf, but he wasn't nearly as threatening as the others that would come.

Goku really had to test himself against the Red Ribbon Army. Mostly they had to go through tournaments, which don't appear very often in DBZ. This is basically a much tamer version of DBZ. In some ways it is better than DBZ.

While not having as much action, it's much funnier. They are also not insanely powerful as they are on DBZ, and everyone is useful in this series. Even Chouzu and Yajirobe. That's because everyone's power level was kind of similar. In DBZ, some characters are WAY stronger than some other characters, and that makes the other character almost useless.

Still it was enjoyable, like this series. It doesn't waste too much time with transformations or power ups, so if you don't like that kind of thing, go ahead and watch this series. I have to say that Dragonball is by far my Favorite series of all time. Its the show that got me into anime and I cant wait to buy all the seasons remastered when they come out.

The Dragonball story is goofy, fun, and all around brilliant! It throws great humor with huge action and you cant beat it. I started Dragonball by reading the manga when I was younger and still love them and the show is just as good if not better!

Sure, some stuff form the manga has been taken out of the show but thats because some of that is more mature nudity then would be for the audience.

All in all, Dragonball is one show you need to see in it entirety to feel its greatness. Not to mention the planet Earth is explored on a much wider scale with even more battlegrounds being featured throughout. While Dragon Ball Z is a series that puts the fights in front of everything else, Dragon Ball is a series that began as a great adventure.

The series featured a lot of fights but they never took away from that mission to travel the world and collect the seven mystical Dragon Balls. This made Dragon Ball an all-around better adventure. Something that can't really be said for Dragon Ball Z.

Dragon Ball is a series that has more "realistic" and down to Earth battles. Dragon Ball Z took things up a notch by making the playing field a lot larger during the fights. Dragon Ball Z puts the characters in these giant playgrounds that allow them to really show off how much more powerful every one has become since that original run.

Hence why there are so many explosions throughout the series. Dragon Ball Z may have the larger battles but Dragon Ball definitely trumps its sequel series big time when it comes to actual fight choreography. A piece of the series that had a big hand in this is the martial arts origins of the battle style in the manga. Even in the anime with the earlier animation, these fights are astounding. A huge highlight of the series is definitely each World Tournament arc with fights like Goku vs Krillin and Goku vs Jackie Chun being two of the best fights in the series.
